Little Honest Abes
Last week I spoke to 5th graders about Abraham Lincoln and our rights and being good citizens as part of a program put on by our state bar association. I got thank you cards from them today. Some things they said: 1. Half of what you said I did not know! 2. I learned about Abe Lincoln in 2nd grade but this was a nice refresher. 3. You made good eye contact.
Also, one kid just drew a picture of the Declaration of Independence, signed his name on it and then wrote “Oops, I meant the Constitution” below it. Clearly, I made a lasting impression.
